Born in a village named Hariharpur , situated around 35 kms from Varanasi,in December 1942 I was taken to Allahabad by my father when I was nearly three weeks old along with three brothers and two sisters to enable us to have good schooling for which purpose he had joined as Librarian at  RR Intermediate College after leaving behind an army staff job at Agra.

I had to leave  Primary school after 3rd Standard. Skipping two classes I was admitted to 6th Class in July 1950,based  on my tests in English and Hindi. However , it resulted  in my my failure in Half Yearly Examination. But in the Yearly Examination I was promoted to 7th class  even though I did not score pass marks in two subjects, based on my total marks and overall  good performance.

In 1950 summer vacation I travelled  on my own from Daraganj to Aurihar junction by train and changed to another train bound for Jaunpur. I have recorded it separately.

After passing high-school I was taken to Tonk, Rajasthan via Jhansi and Agra, by my eldest brother Shri VCSrivastava who was then Lecturer at Government College there.

My life and career journey in Rajasthan has been recorded in Second Chapter.
